Museum Cafe – Vocational Unit
This film introduces the Museum Cafe, a vocational training center and livelihood initiative by Vidya Sagar. The cafe empowers PwDs through hands-on training in both food preparation and customer service, as informed chef and trainer Mr. Mahendran. Two years before, we are starting this one.
Here, everybody’s coming from MOP, Museum of Possibilities which is a Vidya Sagar School
Poonam Natarajan mam instituted this one, including Mr Parth and Mr Mahadevan, Hot Breads Founder, He is also doing, helping.
So, they are coming to Hot Breads, they are getting trained, to these girls and boys
Now we have got 9 people.
1st batch, there’s 3 people. Completed. One year is completed. Now he is staff here.
Again, second batch has started with 5 people. So now he is getting a 6 month training
We are making pizzas, sandwiches, burgers, cold drinks, coffee, so many items.
Whats he’s doing, we are doing that kind of help
First training, we are starting cleaning, everything, cleaning, production and customer inviting, say A to Z.
So, when he’s coming here, and he is going any places, he has to do all the duties outside.
One boy Afran, he’s also 1st batch student, now he is going to work in Reddy’s Café. So, he knows everything.
We are teaching them so that when they are going outside, they are able to work.
Currently we have 7 people. 2 persons are doing service, 5 people do kitchen work, making food and everything.
