Towards Inclusion: A Disability Awareness Card Game Kit

Share

We are thrilled to present the first-ever fun card game kit on disability awareness, launched by Trinayani after three years of extensive research and pilot studies. Titled “Towards Inclusion”, this kit is a groundbreaking resource developed by Ms. Padma Shastry, Inclusive Education Specialist at Samam Vidya, and Ms. Ritika Sahni, Founder and Trustee of Trinayani. Through engaging, adapted card games, the kit promotes awareness, challenges stereotypes, and advocates for inclusion.

What’s Inside the Kit?

  • Six Exciting Card Game Sets with instruction sheets
  • An Answer Booklet with updated terminology on disability
  • Bonus: A story-cum-workbook titled “I Am Different, So Are You”

About the Games:

The six card games aim to foster acceptance and promote understanding about disability through play:

  1. “Do You Know?” – A UNO-style game that introduces basic facts about disability.
  2. “Inclusion Bingo” – A fun way to learn disability-related words.
  3. “Surprise! Surprise!” – Challenges misconceptions about disability in a sorting format.
  4. “Barriers Begone!” – Encourages players to recognize and address barriers faced by persons with disabilities.
  5. “Say This! Not That!” – Teaches the importance of respectful and accurate language around disability.
  6. “Hear! Hear!” – A memory game offering bite-sized information about disabilities.

Workshops Using the Kit

We also offer a customized 3-hour interactive workshop conducted by Disability Campaigner and Trainer Ritika Sahni. This workshop, perfect for 60-80 participants, uses the game toolkit to create a transformative learning experience. It aims to sensitize stakeholders to view disability as a difference, not a disadvantage.
